National Cinema Day – $3 Movies in Baton Rouge Movie Theaters

August 29, 2022 by Baton Rouge Family Fun

Major chains, including AMC and Cinemark, are participating in National Cinema Day, as are all major film studios.

For one day, movie tickets will be just $3 in the vast majority of American theaters as part of a newly launched “National Cinema Day” to lure moviegoers to the movies on Labor Day Weekend. The initiative will include top theater chains like AMC Entertainment, Regal Cinemas, and Cinemark Theatres to entice moviegoers indoors at the unofficial end of summer.

National Cinema Day 2022

National Cinema Day

The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit arm of the National Association of Theater Owners, announced that Saturday, Sept. 3, will be a nationwide discount day in more than 3,000 theaters and on more than 30,000 screens. In participating theaters, tickets will be no more than $3 for every showing, in every format.

“After this summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Jackie Brenneman, Cinema Foundation president, in a statement. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.”

What to know before you go:

  • The one-day event features all movie tickets for only $3, including premium format screens like IMAX and Dolby Cinema, and for all showtimes.
  • Saturday’s showings will also feature exclusive previews from upcoming movies.
  • A special Cinema Day website has been set up to find participating theaters.
  • The $3 ticket price does not include tax and convenience fees such as online and third-party ticketing fees.
  • Even more savings – Many theaters have coinciding promotions. For example, AMC  tweeted that it will have a ” drink and popcorn cameo combo” for $5 plus tax Saturday.
