September is going out with a bang! From National Hunting and Fishing Day and BREC’s Asian Mid-Autumn Festival to a colorful family fun run, classic car show and Hungarian Harvest Festival, there’s something for everyone.

Ever wondered what happens in Louisiana’s forests after the sun goes down?
Join BREC Conservation staff for a nighttime adventure through Frenchtown Conservation Area. Discover nocturnal wildlife, learn about nighttime ecology and finish the evening around a campfire with s’mores.
This is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience nature in a completely different way.

Get ready for one of Louisiana’s biggest outdoor celebrations!
National Hunting and Fishing Day is a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to fishing, wildlife, outdoor recreation and conservation.
Hosted by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the celebration features educational exhibits, outdoor demonstrations and hands-on experiences for families.
Activities featured at previous celebrations include fishing, archery, canoeing, live animals and wildlife demonstrations. Check the current event details for this year’s activity lineup and hours.

West Baton Rouge Library Family Color Run

Get ready for a morning filled with color, laughter and family fun!
Wear your white attire and prepare for a colorful community celebration at the West Baton Rouge Library’s Family Color Run.
Event schedule:
- 8:30 AM – Check-in
- 9:20 AM – Pre-race warmup
- 9:30 AM – Color Run begins
- 10:30 AM – After-Color Celebration
- 10:30 AM–12:30 PM – Vendors
Stick around after the run for face painting, snow cones, games, refreshments and more.
The first 150 eligible participants receive a complimentary snow cone ticket.

Families can enjoy live performances, cultural demonstrations, hands-on activities, traditional stories and the sights, sounds and flavors of Asia.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to different cultures while celebrating one of Asia’s most beloved harvest traditions.

The Hungarian Harvest Festival continues Saturday with a full day of entertainment, vendors and cultural celebrations.
