If you’ve been looking for ways to help your family build healthier habits together, here’s an opportunity to consider. Pennington Biomedical Research Center is currently enrolling local families in the COACH Study, a 12-month research program designed to help parents and children work together toward healthier lifestyles.
Rather than focusing on one person, the COACH Study encourages families to make lasting lifestyle changes as a team. While one child and one parent or legal guardian are officially enrolled in the study, the entire household is encouraged to participate in the healthy habits and lessons along the way.
What Families Receive

Families participating in the COACH Study will receive support throughout the year, including:
• Personalized nutrition counseling sessions
• Quarterly visits with their child’s primary care provider
• Meetings with a community resource counselor who can connect families with local resources to help them achieve their health goals
• Access to online educational tools and resources through the COACH website
The program is designed to provide practical guidance, encouragement, and ongoing support as families work toward healthier eating, increased physical activity, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
Who Can Participate?
The COACH Study enrolls one child and one parent or legal guardian, but families are encouraged to make the journey together by practicing the healthy habits at home.
If you’re interested in learning whether your family qualifies, the first step is completing a brief screening survey. A member of the COACH Study team will then contact you with more information.
