Memorial Day Weekend in Baton Rouge

The Jambalaya Festival Association, chartered in 1967, invites you to mark your calendar for the 58th Annual Jambalaya Festival to be held in Gonzales from May 22-25.

It’s a weekend of delicious food, great music, and fun experiences the whole family will enjoy. The festival features World Champion Jambalaya, live music and entertainment, carnival rides, and so much fun it takes three days to get it all in.


When: Starting Saturday, May 24th  – Flags remain through June 1st
Where: Louisiana State Capitol
Admission: FREE

This Memorial Day weekend, don’t forget to visit the Memorial Day Garden of Flags. It’s a sight to behold and a beautiful tribute. Over 11,000 American flags are placed at the Capitol steps to represent fallen Louisiana service members. The flags will remain in place through June 1st.
Saturday, May 24th, Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana, Chapter 1 and volunteers will be planting 11,000 American flags and reading the names of the fallen from 9/11 to the present day. The opening Ceremony will begin @ approximately 8:30 am, followed by the planting of the flags. The public is encouraged to attend. Seating for the ceremony is very limited. Please bring your lawn chairs. It’s a great experience for your children and grandchildren!

Memorial Day Concert Band

When: May 26th at 7 PM
Where: Main Library at Goodwood
Admission: FREE

The Baton Rouge Concert Band invites the community to its annual Memorial Day Concert on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 7pm, as we honor the brave men and women of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. The concert will be on the Plaza at the Main Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library (7711 Goodwood Blvd). This free concert will feature a moving selection of music, including patriotic songs, stirring marches, and somber tributes that reflect the significance of the day. Come together with family, friends, and fellow community members and join us for an evening of remembrance and music. We look forward to seeing you there!
