The East Baton Rouge Public School System’s Fine Arts Department is hosting a series of FREE Summer Music Camp options this summer, including Band, Jazz, and Strings camps. This is an experience of a lifetime for Baton Rouge students as camps will be instructed by award-winning music teachers, who truly understand the importance of cultivating future musicians.
FREE Summer Music Camp
SUMMER BAND JAM CAMP
This FREE camp is only for EBRPSS students in Grades 5 – 11 (2022-2023 School Year) The program is designed for students who have previous instruction in band courses, both middle school and high school. Wide range of engaging activities, that reinforce and further our students’ musical skills. Activities will allow curious students to study topics in-depth by discovering new concepts through musical play and exchanging ideas with their intellectual peers.
Activities include: Proper mouth, hand, and body positioning;
Care of the Instrument; More Advanced Rhythms; Chromatic Notes/Rudiments; tuning with others; and Articulations/Stickings.
This a great opportunity to give students a chance to get that small group instruction or chances for one-on-one music lessons.

SUMMER BAND CAMP WITH A JAZZY TWIST
This FREE camp is only for EBRPSS students in Grades 7 – 11 (2022-2023 School Year). The program is designed for students who have previous instruction in band courses, both middle school and high school. Wide range of engaging activities, which will reinforce and further our students’ musical skills. Activities will allow curious students to study topics in-depth by discovering new concepts through musical play and exchanging ideas with their intellectual peers.
Some activities include: Proper mouth, hand, and body positioning: Chromatic Notes/Rudiments/Jazz scales and
Chords; Tuning with others; Jazz articulations/Stickings/Rhythms; and Stage presence.
STUDENTS IN THIS ADDENDUM MUST PARTICIPATE IN THE MORNING SUMMER BAND JAM ’22 PORTIONS OF THE DAY.

MY SUMMER OF STRINGS CAMP
This FREE camp is only for EBRPSS students in Grades 4 – 11 (2022 – 2023 School Year). The program is designed for students who have previous instruction in orchestral strings courses, elementary, middle, and/or high school. The session will provides a wide range of engaging activities, that reinforce and further our students’ musical skills. Activities will allow curious students to study topics in-depth, discovering new concepts through musical play and exchanging ideas with their intellectual peers.
Some activities include: Proper hand and body positioning; Chromatic notes; tuning with others; proper bowing technique; double stops, ear training, and pizzicato.
A great way to give students a chance to get that small group instruction and/or chances for one-on-one music lessons. This camp will be instructed by award-winning music teachers, who truly understand the importance of cultivating future musicians.
