Big news for Baton Rouge families: the beloved Blue Bayou Waterpark is officially getting a fresh start! Beginning Spring 2026, the park will reopen under new management—and a brand new name.

Maybe it will look like this again!

According to WAFB, Leisure, Sports and Recreation, LLC, a Louisiana-based company and operator of Gulf Islands Waterpark in Gulfport, Mississippi, will manage the popular waterpark and announced it will rebrand as Soak’n Fun® Baton Rouge.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Soak’n Fun experience to Baton Rouge,” said Glenn Haggerty, Managing Partner at Leisure Sports. “Our team is committed to creating a safe, exciting, and family-focused environment that will delight both locals and visitors alike.”

The park will be part of the Soak’n Fun® family of waterparks, which are recognized for clean, safe, and fun-filled experiences for all ages. While Blue Bayou will remain closed for the 2025 season, the new team is already making plans to reopen with a splash in spring 2026.

This expansion marks an exciting moment for Leisure Sports, as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of their Gulfport park. As for Baton Rouge, families can look forward to new energy, improved facilities, and the same sunny, water-soaked fun—just under a new name.

Gulf Islands Waterpark, located in Gulfport, Mississippi, is a vibrant, island-themed waterpark perfect for families and thrill-seekers alike. It features dozens of exhilarating attractions—from heart-pounding waterslides like the Horn Island Blaster (the Gulf Coast’s only water roller coaster) and the fast-paced Riptide Racer, to more relaxed options such as the Lazy Pearl River and a sprawling 12,000‑sq‑ft wave pool.

Little ones have their own space in Lil’ Pelican’s Bay and Ship Island Wreck, complete with splash zones and gentle slides. The park also supports a full range of amenities—including on-site cafes like Petit Bois Island Cafe and cabanas with food delivery—ensuring a comfortable and fun-filled day in the sun. In short, Gulf Islands Waterpark delivers an engaging mix of wild rides, family-friendly attractions, and relaxation under the Gulf Coast sky, making it a go-to destination for summer fun.
