Friday, October 17

Swamp Haunted Hikes (BREC)


Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Details: A family-friendly Halloween walk with costumed characters, storytelling, crafts, carnival games, and live animal encounters. Trails open after dusk; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Boucherie and Balloon Festival

Baton Rouge Weekend Events

Details: A weekend-long festival featuring hot air balloons, cracklin’ cookoffs, jambalaya, live music, and local vendors. Families can enjoy evening glow events, cooking contests, and entertainment across all three days.

Saturday, October 18

Blackwater United Methodist Church Annual Fall Festival


Time: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Details: A free community event centered around faith, fellowship, and fall fun. Visitors can roam the pumpkin patch (and new sunflower patch), browse vendor booths, enjoy inflatables and games, listen to music, and sample festival foods. Food and vendor items will be available for purchase.

City of Central Fall Fest

Baton Rouge Weekend Events

Details: A free community evening with live music (The Stone Sober Band at 4 PM, Dominick Michael at 6 PM), kids’ activities, food trucks, trick-or-treating, photobooth, and more. Bring blankets or chairs.

Geaux Fish! Catfish Rodeo (BREC)

Baton Rouge Weekend Events

Details: BREC stocks adult channel catfish in the pond. Participants bring bait and fish for prizes by size and number caught. Limited rods and reels may be available to borrow (first come).

Great Family Campout (BREC)


Time: 4:00 p.m. until dark (overnight)
Details: A family camping experience with programmed activities, s’mores by the fire, an outdoor movie, and a light breakfast in the morning. No prior camping skills needed. Tents and sleeping bags can be rented at extra cost. Rain-out date: Oct 25.

16th Annual Boo at the Barn (St. Amant FFA Chapter)


Time: Session 1: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Session 2: 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Details: Family-friendly Halloween event supporting community Thanksgiving baskets. Activities include a haunted street, petting zoo, hayrides, games, photo areas, vendor booths, a costume contest, and more. Each session limited to ~700–800 participants.

Fall Festival at the Farm (Lazy L Farms LLC)

LOCAL OG’s 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat



Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Details: A community trunk-or-treat event at Celtic Studios (beside Costco). Kids are encouraged to wear costumes. Awards will be given for Best Costume, Kids’ Choice, Best Display, etc. Vehicles may begin setup at 5:30 p.m.

Baton Rouge Maker Faire — “Lights, Camera, MAKE!”

Details: The 12th Annual Maker Faire returns with a filmmaking theme. Expect hands-on maker booths, stunt demonstrations, animatronics workshops, green screen & costume play, a writer’s room simulation, and a live scoring of a classic Buster Keaton film by Breadstick Space Opera with Foley effects by Clay Achee. October Goat Yoga
