Memorial Day Weekend

The Jambalaya Festival Association, chartered in 1967, invites you to mark your calendar for the 57th Annual Jambalaya Festival to be held in Gonzales from May 24-26, 2024.

We’re excited to bring a weekend of delicious food, great music, and fun experiences the whole family will enjoy. The festival features World Champion Jambalaya, live music and entertainment, carnival rides, and so much fun it takes three days to get it all in.


WhenSaturday, May 25th 8:30 Am – Flags remain through June 1st
Where: Louisiana State Capitol
Admission: FREE

This Memorial Day weekend, don’t forget to visit the Memorial Day Garden of Flags. It’s a sight to behold and a beautiful tribute. Over 11,000 American flags are placed at the Capitol steps to represent fallen Louisiana service members. The flags will remain in place through June 1st.
Saturday, May 25th, Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana, Chapter 1 and volunteers will be planting 11,000 American flags and reading the names of the fallen from 9/11 to the present day. The opening Ceremony will begin @ approximately 8:30 am, followed by the planting of the flags. The public is encouraged to attend. Seating for the ceremony is very limited. Please bring your lawn chairs. It’s a great experience for your children and grandchildren!! Flag pick up will be on June 1st at 8:00 a.m.

Spring Safari Weekend

When: May 25th – 12 – 3 PM

Memorial Day Weekend

Enjoy free live music by Feat. Lake Ragan at the Global Wildlife pavilion, while savoring delicious food for purchase from Boss Hog’s Kitchen or Wich Craft Eats Food Trucks, back by popular demand. Don’t forget to cool off with a sweet treat, also for purchase, from Riccippi’s Italian Ice — onsite every weekend, weather permitting!
Note: Food Trucks will be ready to serve every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am-3:00pm — live music starts at 11.

Memorial Day Concert Baton Rouge

Join the Baton Rouge Concert Band for its annual Memorial Day Concert on May 27th at 7 p.m. at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library on Goodwood Blvd. The concert is in tribute and remembrance of the freedoms we enjoy as Americans and the sacrifice made by those to protect them. The band will play musical tributes, including Missing Man, Hymn to the Fallen, Band of Brothers, Guadalcanal March from Victory at Sea, and the annual favorite Armed Forces Salute.

Memorial Day Weekend

Join Red Stick Farmers Market for “Kids’ Day” at the Red Stick Farmers Market on Tuesday, May 28th from 3pm to 6pm at the Main Library at Goodwood!
Enjoy a kid-friendly cooking demo, food sampling, and balloon twisting. Plus, the splash pad will be on for extra fun! Louisiana Healthcare Connections is generously providing face painting. Come shop local, enjoy great activities, and celebrate the start of summer with us!
