BREC’s Liberty Lagoon has announced its season kickoff with a few changes. The waterpark, which is under new management, is set to open Saturday, May 23.

Liberty Lagoon Baton Rouge
Liberty Lagoon is the ultimate destination for you and your family to beat the heat! Whether you’re craving the adrenaline rush from our Shockwave or Bowl Slide, or seeking a more relaxed day by the children’s play area and splashpad, there’s something for everyone at Liberty Lagoon.
For the 2026 season, Liberty Lagoon is partnering with SELA Aquatics, a respected leader in aquatic safety and training. Following a competitive request-for-proposal process, SELA Aquatics was selected for its proven experience supporting and managing aquatic facilities. The organization specializes in educating and certifying lifeguards and safety professionals through American Red Cross training programs, helping ensure Liberty Lagoon staff are highly trained and prepared for the season.
Guests will also notice several physical improvements across the park. All waterslides, including the popular Shockwave attraction, have been refreshed to provide smoother rides. Capacity levels have also been adjusted to create a safer and more relaxed experience for families throughout the park.
In addition, Liberty Lagoon is introducing new food offerings through a partnership with City Pork Catering & Events, bringing upgraded dining options for guests to enjoy during the 2026 season.
