Nature Night Hike and Campfire: Cedar Ridge

WHEN: Friday, August 19th – 7 pm – 9 pm
WHERE: BREC’s Cedar Ridge Avenue Park

Join BREC on a Friday night for a great way to say goodbye to summer! The program will include a night hike learning about local ecology and nocturnal animals and will include activities and games. Enjoy this great way to get the family out after the daytime heat. Preregistration is required and spaces are limited. Children must be registered and accompanied by a registered adult.

Floats and Flicks: Luca

Things to Do in Baton Rouge

WHEN: Saturday, August 20th – 6pm – 9pm
WHERE: Liberty Lagoon

Grab your floats and blankets and join BREC by the pool for a movie night on the big screen! Admission to the event is free however all guests must pre-register. Registration will be capped at 400 people. Gates will open at 5:30pm movie will begin at 6 PM. Guests must check in prior to the start of the movie if guests haven’t arrived by 6 PM or the start of the movie there’s a possibility of losing reservation.

Movies & Music on the Lawn: KIDS NIGHT! BR Music Studios & Shaun the Sheep

WHERE: Baton Rouge Gallery – center for contemporary art

The annual KIDS NIGHT, part of Movies & Music on the Lawn, presented by Cox, returns in August as part of the summer film series that pairs silent films with not-so-silent Louisiana bands. Each year, the series’ Kids Night features a movie for kids with music by kids for a night the whole family can enjoy! This year, the students of Baton Rouge Music Studios take on the 2015 animated hit Shaun the Sheep.

Plus, our friends from Knock Knock Children’s Museum will be on hand with activities and fun for every kid in attendance ahead of the film!

Whether you’re looking for a date night that’s a little different or an affordable family outing, we invite you to join us for Movies & Music on the Lawn. Bottomless popcorn and admission to one of the area’s most unique film series costs just $7. To make things even better, if you’re a BRG member, your admission is included in your membership!

Wonders of Wildlife

Saturday, August 20th, 9 am- 4 pm
WHERE: BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center

NEW EVENT FOR 2022!!! Join us at Bluebonnet Swamp as we explore the wonders of our urban wildlife and learn how we can all get along. Did you find a baby bird or injured animal? Worried about the snakes in your backyard and how to keep raccoons out of your garbage can? Need some tips on how your pets and the wildlife in your backyard can coexist? Find out the answers to these questions and more! We will have educational presentations, games, live animals, trail activities, crafts and more so come on out for a great time at the Swamp! Registration not required.
