This Week in Baton Rouge – Family Friendly Events & Entertainment- A weekly column published on Baton Rouge Moms every Sunday. This is such a great time of year to get out and enjoy local events with your family; lots of fall festivals, outdoor concerts and pumpkin patches, oh my!

  • Dinosaur Passage To Pangaea – October 15th – 20th
    Claymation adventure explains one of the greatest geological events in the history of the earth: the separation of the supercontinent Pangaea. When two children embark on a geology field trip, they are thrown into a fantastic voyage in which they witness incredible geological wonders and explore the mysterious process that created our present-day continents. Wednesday

  • Redstick Mobile Farmer’s Market – The Redstick Farmer’s Market is mobilizing! Come to the Scotlandville Branch Library to enjoy that same freshness you’ve come to count on. Scotlandville Branch Library 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Thursday

  • Red Stick Farmers Market – Come by and pick up some locally grown treats Thursday morning at the infamous Red Stick Farmer’s Market! Pennington Biomedical Research Center – 8:00 pm to 12:00 pm
  • United Way Jambalaya Jam – 5pm – 8pm  North Boulevard Town Square http://www.cauw.org/jam
  • Rock N Rowe Featuring After 8 – 6pm -9pm – Perkins Rowe
     – Perkins Rowe really comes alive on Rock N Rowe Thursdays. Justin Adams Band, one of Baton Rouge’s most entertaining bands will play an exciting live show  in Town Square Park. Start your weekend early with shopping, dining and a little rocking at Perkins Rowe.

Friday

  •  Live after Five in Downtown Baton Rouge- Featuring Hai Karate – is the Capital City’s premier FREE live, outdoor, music entertainment. Hosted by the Downtown Business Association, it takes place every spring and fall with a various genres of music. The concert series is held every year to entice people to visit and journey through downtown Baton Rouge. Visitors then have the opportunity to visit with the local merchants and their businesses in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
  • Fall Fest on The Boulevard- Mall of Laouisiana “The Boulevard” 5 to 7 pm – Fall carnival games, children’s costume contest, face painting, retailer offers, lots of candy, and more! FREE with a canned or non-perishable or canned food item donation to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
  • Healthy BR Food Week Kickoff at Live After Five – Friday, 18 October, 2013 – Friday, 18 October, 2013 – 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM – Mayor Holden kicks off Healthy BR Food Week, a week-long celebration of healthy, affordable and sustainable food spotlighting the innovative food work being done right here in Baton Rouge!
  • The Myrtles Halloween Experience – Mystery Tours begin at 6 PM each evening with the last tours beginning at 9 PM on Friday, Saturday and Halloween  7747 US Highway 61 St. Francisville, LA 70775
  • International Acadian Festival – The 45th International Acadian Festival will have food, rides and a great time for the whole family!  5:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Saturday

  • LSU vs. Ole Miss – Starts at 06:00 pm
  • Red Stick Farmers Market  – 8am – 12pm – 501 Main Street Baton Rouge, LA  The Red Stick Farmers Market is a producer only market with over 50 vendors that has been in operation for nearly ten years. Open on Saturday mornings from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in conjunction with The Main Street Market which is a six day a week public marketplace located on the first floor of the Galvez Garage in downtown Baton Rouge.
  • Harvest Festival on False River – Local cuisine, arts and crafts, fun attractions, carnival rides Friday 6pm-10pm, Saturday 10am-10pm and Sunday 10am-6pm. 
  • CORN MAZE SATURDAYS AT BURDEN – 4pm to 7pm – LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden Center – Bigger and better, more twists and turns, this Corn Maze ROCKS! http://www.LSUAgCenter.com/Burden
  • Boo at the Zoo – Oct 19 – Oct 27  A merry-not-scary trick-or-treating extravaganza. Wear your best costumes and visit the Zoo on October 19, 20, 26 and 27, 2013. Children can visit treat stations throughout the Zoo, make a memory at the Safari Snapshot photo booth and wander throughout the merry-not-scary Hay Maze.  9:30 a.m. to 5:00pm
  • Halloween Parade –  2:oopm – 5:00pm  Downtown Baton Rouge-starts on St. Philip and South Boulevard
  • St. George Fair – Saturday October 19th (10:00 AM to 10:00 PM)  Sunday October 20th (10:30 AM to 6:00 PM)

  • Sunday in the Park –  North Boulevard Town Square –   Sundays in October & November at Live Oak Plaza in North Boulevard’s Town Square from 2-5 PM and enjoy FREE live music under the oaks.For more information click HERE – Free, family-friendly outdoor concert.
  • St. George Fair – Saturday October 19th (10:00 AM to 10:00 PM)  Sunday October 20th (10:30 AM to 6:00 PM)
