Aim to Maintain

Coming from one of those “I lost half my size” stories I can tell you the story doesn’t end there. It can feel like it is never ending from the comfort foods we have here in South Louisiana (beignets and gumbo anyone?)  to the holidays that seem to be focused around food (king-cake and chocolate bunnies). Even our football season is almost out-shined by the endless food options at the tailgate parties around campus.

Healthy Baton Rouge

It is all around us but how do we resist those temptations? How do I keep the weight off ? How do I simply “maintain?”  You are aware, that is a start. As with everything it is all about balance. You do not have to deprive yourself but you do have to moderate yourself.  You have to check in with yourself by asking  “Do I have to try that amazing looking taco dip even though I just ate?” If the answer is yes, then have a taste but move on after.

I admit I have days where I need to practice what I preach. We all have off days. Don’t let one bad day ruin your whole week. The next day or two work harder to make healthier food choices so your not beating yourself up that your clothes fit a bit snug than you would like. Make better choices not for the short term but for life.

Don’t let your food choices rule your life.  Keep yourself in check.
